In collaboration with Paris Capitale de la Création, the massive Who’s Next, which welcomed more than 54,000 visitors to its aisles, has crowned five designers based on the trade show’s five themed areas.

That’s it, the winter’s over. At least it is for Who’s Next. January’s event ended as a resounding success. More than 2100 brands from around the world, divided between eight areas, and another increase in numbers, with some 54,182 visitors coming to take a look this year. Walldress sent its team of reporters to offer us three brief minutes of immersion in the meandering alleyways of this paradise of beauty, with its must-haves and technical insights. For those who were not able to come, this will serve as a quick catch-up before the next event on 30th June, and as a little reminder to be watched at work for the others.

When it comes to sniffing out and supporting the latest in young talent, the Who’s Next trade show hasn’t any plans to step aside. Au contraire! With already 4 years under its belt, www.whosnextblog.com is chiming for change, and putting in the time and trouble to make that happen… double, that is.
The contest boasts a free booth, 16 winners and 4 categories in womenswear, menswear, footwear and fashion accessories. Trade show turns window wonderment for the 16 winners and their creations. A striking 6th edition awaits.
For the first time this year, international platform, Arts Thread, is teaming up with Who’s Next Prêt-à-Porter, and bringing along with it a handful of its young, up-and-coming designers.
From 60 of the 80 schools on its website come 10 graduates who have been handpicked by a jury of professionals.
Double the opportunities, double the possibilities. Two contests make for twice as many creative young minds. The world is spinning and so is Who’s Next Prêt-à-Porter.

With a triple exhibition line-up, the Eclat de Mode trade show still clearly takes good care of its guests. Firstly, there is “La Prison des Fées” (“The Fairy Prison”) by Laurence Laborie. It is a fashion photography exhibition with mind-boggling aesthetics. The author’s past is a good departure point to understanding the exhibition’s beauty. Laurence Laborie is a trained engineer, but began her career as a model. Today, she works with some of the most prestigious brands on the market, including Baume et Mercier, L’Oréal, BMW, Vogue, L’Officiel, Elle, etc.
In this exhibition, Laurence Laborie portrays women as precious jewels in a fairytale-like setting, a very natural fit between the artist and trade show.

Thomas Jorion photographs urban ruins and condemned buildings. In “Out of Gas”, the artist depicts these fallen fragments, a ghostly sight feeding a soul that lingers, wanders, discreetly, but present nonetheless. His works invite viewers to reflect on the relationship between the material and temporal. The question becomes even more apparent when Thomas Jorion delves into the sites that line the landscapes and haunt the culture (petrol stations, motels, etc.) as he embarks upon his very own journey on the road. A Kerouac-infused exhibition, sheer delight.

The start of a new year is the perfect occasion for the trade show to show off one of its favourite finds. Agaperos is its name, and is the portrait of a designer of luxury Bow-Ties, handmade one-offs for men, women and children. But only those for women will be on display at Eclat de Mode. In Greek mythology, Agaperos signifies the union of two of the three forms of love: Agape and Eros.

Marta Moore is a Spanish jewellery designer. Her inspiration is derived from the movement found in nature as well as inertia. Her extraordinary pieces remain very affordable. She will be presenting two of them at Eclat de Mode: one is “Château étoilé” (Starry Chateau), inspired by the Surrealist movement, and the other is “Naufrage Low-cost” (Shipwrecked), inspired by the marine life surrounding the Canary Islands.

By partnering up with the 5th Miss Ronde France pageant, Who’s Next is committing to the fight against weight discrimination of women and the health risk inherent in slimming strategies. The message comes through loud and clear on behalf of a fashion trade show that backs the onsite offer of plus sizes.
It is the flip side of reality when it is a known fact that only 20% of women wear a size under 40, and half of French woman over 35 years old are slightly overweight. Today’s creations are genuinely creative, original, beautiful, luxurious and sexy.
The Parisian studio, L’Appart, will be handling all event preparations. Beauty, full of curves. At last.

Craftsman? Artist? Designer? Hard to label Hubert le Gall (1961). A trained artist, he sculpts furniture as if to bring to the surface the deeply-rooted nature found within the materials he uses, as if the shapes spoke for themselves. The objects he creates seem to lose focus of their own functionality in order to make room for a more animistic narrative.

Elisabeth Delacarte, Director of the Avant-Scène Gallery, Parisian window showcasing his work, writes, “His approach consists in revisiting and giving new meaning to furniture and decorative art.”

Hubert le Gall models bronze, plaster, resin, wood, glass and ceramic to fill interiors. His flower tables are icons as are his footless lamps; both convey ever so precisely his desire for diversion and delusion. Hubert le Gall has myriad tricks up his sleeve when it comes to radically revamping interiors. Well beyond objects, he designs places, moods and entire realms.

A must for buyers, specifiers or journalists regardless of purpose. Fashion Trend is indispensable, unparalleled, and lays the groundwork for tomorrow.

This year, female fashion is turning its back on pessimism, and looking on the bright side. Stylist, Elizabeth Leriche, and architect, Vasken Yeghiayan, are the masterminds behind the set design of this spectacular space hovering on four major themes around the myriad facets of a woman: her cheerfulness in Dream Flower, her radiance in Mystic Desert, her mystery in Magic Aquatic and her indulgence in Sweet Pastel.

Don’t miss out on what the Spring/Summer 2012 collection has in store, as well as the chance to add a smile to your face when you soak up the sun and sunny perspective in this optimistically-aesthetic venue.

More information, here.
